FLOOR EPOXIES

Adding a floor epoxy to a home or busniess will add more then just a clean look to the particular space. Floor epoxies are generally two part epoxies which when mixed together and applied correctly leave a floor surface with the utmost in durabiltly and protection. Floor epoxies will leave a floor surface with a hard, durabile, and easy to clean surface. Generally these products come in select colors and have the option of flakes or chips to be added. When the floor is preped and applied correctly you can exspect 5-10+ years of a quality protective surface. More about our floor epoxy process can be found below.

CLEANING

Cleaning a floor surface prior to applying an epoxy may seem like an obvious step, but is often either skipped or not done in full prior to application. removing grease, oil, and dirt from the surface is a manditory step, and if not done correctly epoxy failure will be guarenteed. Using envriomentaly friendy cleaning products, degreasers, heavy powerwahsing equipemtn, and elbow grease, KB paintign assures to fully clean the surface prior to preping and paintng the floor.

PREP

Just like a deck or an exterior home, floor surfaces vary greatly when it comes to prep and product choice. Depending on the condition of the floor and the particular product being applied grinding, acid etching,  and removing older epoxies may be required to achieve the desired finish and durabilty. New concrete floors need to be either acid etched and/or grindied to expose the correct porosity and ph levels so the epoxy will bond correctly. KB Painting often looks at floors that have failed epoxy coating on them already as a new floor and will grind prior to the new application to completly void any type of future failer.

Along with surface prpeoration, you can be assured KB Painting will fill all voids, cracks, and dmages prior to application.Depending on product, priming may be a required step as well.

APPLYING EPOXY

Once the surface has be cleaned, prepped, and is paint ready we can go ahead witht he epoxy application. Generally, KB Painting will not do less than two coats of epoxy so there will be no issues when it comes to longetivity and dirabilty. The floor two part epoxies come in a smaller slection of colors, but do have the option for flakes or micro/macro chips for a more natural look. Sand texture can be added as well for areas where foot ttraffic is heavy and slippery conditionas may exist. There are also one part floor epoxy products which come in an array of colors matching wall color option.
